ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Increasing the rate of vaccination is crucial in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a survey of 112,888 Indonesians found that only 64.8% Indonesians were willing to be vaccinated, with 7.6% refusing all vaccines and 27.6% are unsure. Several factors were related to this vaccine hesitancy and refusal, such as cognitive reflection, trust in authoritative figures, and personality traits. This study aims to identify psychological determinants and other factors associated with vaccine hesitancy and vaccine refusal. This was a cross-sectional study with data collection done in March 2021 using a questionnaire. We collected demographic data, respondents' stance on vaccination, as well as their psychology measurement. IBM SPSS 26.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: The data of 190 respondents were collected for this study. There are 165 respondents (86.8%) who belong to "vaccine acceptance", while 25 are "vaccine hesitance" or "vaccine resistance." Multivariate analysis shows that frequency of COVID-19 tests (p = 0.03), smoking status (p = 0.035), agreeableness trait (p = 0.001), trust in government (p = 0.04) and trust in scientist (p = 0.049) are significantly associated with the two population. CONCLUSION: Several demographic and psychological factors affect the COVID-19 vaccine acceptance. The government and other related parties should consider these factors when adjusting for future policies controlling the COVID-19 pandemic and increasing the vaccination rate.

ABSTRACT

Several studies have tried to prove the link between the economic sectors in Indonesia with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, research has yet to observe the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the predicted performance of regression models. This study proposes the development of previous research following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on machine learning performances in predicting economic sectors in Indonesia. The economic sectors mentioned include the exchange rate, CPI, and stock price. The proposed methods for comparison are decision tree (DST) and random forest (RF). Comparison of prediction performance with legacy uses root mean squared error (RMSE), mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). Test results show that the RF regression model has superior performance compared to DST with the best MSE, RMSE, MAPE, MAE, and r2 value of 0.010, 0.102, 0.64%, 0.100, and 0.89, respectively. Using the T-Test, we prove that the COVID-19 pandemic does not significantly affect machine learning predictions on the exchange rate but significantly affects machine learning predictions on CPI and stock prices. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Background: Indonesia has not met its vaccination rate target, falling short of 25% in 2021. This study aims to assess all the contributing factors towards vaccine acceptance, hesitance, and refusal in a single vaccination center in Jambi, Indonesia. Materials and methods: We collected primary data from respondents directly through a structured questionnaire. This was a cross-sectional study with total sampling. We included adults vaccinated for the first dose with CoronaVac in Puskesmas Putri Ayu. The data was collected between March 15th and June 3rd, 2021. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was done to analyse the predictive models. Results: There are 522 respondents included in this study. Nearly half of the respondents are male (52.1%) and mostly in the age category of 36–45 years old (21.1%). A total of 443 respondents (84.9%) are “vaccine acceptance,” while the rest constitutes “vaccine hesitance and refusal.” Multivariate analysis reveals that respondents who obtain permission from work or school to get vaccinated are more likely to be “vaccine acceptance” with an odds ratio (OR) of 1.76 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.08–2.91;p-value 0.025), and respondents with ≥ 2 comorbidities are less likely to be “vaccine acceptance” with an OR of 0.09 (95% CI 0.01–0.64;p-value 0.015). Conclusions: There is a high vaccine acceptance in this study. Difficulties in getting a work permit and the presence of ≥ 2 comorbidities decrease the willingness to be vaccinated for COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND Several studies have reported pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with COVID-19 (PIMS-TS) cases with their cardiac manifestations, but only few studies synthesize the cardiovascular characteristics in children with PIMS-TS. However, detecting cardiac abnormalities is crucial in improving patients' outcomes and reducing mortality. This review aimed to summarize the overall symptoms, laboratory, and workup findings in PIMS-TS patients, focusing on cardiovascular manifestations. METHODS We searched 4 medical databases (PubMed, Science Direct, Medline, and Scielo) and 4 preprint databases (Medrxiv, Research Square, SSRN, and Biorxiv). The literature search was done on November 8, 2021. All case reports, case series, crosssectional studies, cohort studies, and possible clinical trials published from December 2020 onward that studied PIMS-TS on cardiac manifestation (aged 0-18 years) were included. Studies on multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, animal studies, and studies without full-text availability were excluded. This review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42021194468). RESULTS 59 studies were included with a total of 698 patients. The most common cardiovascular findings were the presence of cardiogenic shock (37%) and hypotension (8.5%). Almost all laboratory values were deranged. Cardiac computed tomography scan mostly showed normal results (56%), followed by cardiomegaly with pericardial effusion (14%). Electrocardiography showed normal findings (46%), ST-segment abnormalities (32%), and abnormal T wave (12%). Echocardiography findings showed left ventricle dysfunction (40.6%), which can be considered most significant, followed by pericardial effusion together with pericarditis (11.4%) and tricuspid regurgitation (6.9%). CONCLUSIONS This review found various cardiac abnormalities that may develop during PIMS-TS. Due to these findings, we should be more vigilant and not underestimate the consequences in pediatric COVID-19 patients.

ABSTRACT

Given the huge impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the food and agriculture sectors, rapid measures are needed to reduce the risk of food crises, especially among the poor and the most vulnerable communities. The government of Indonesia planned to establish the Food Estate National Program to ensure food security. Most of the area will be on peatlands, and as such, the program still faces pros and cons as it might open up opportunities for deforestation, threats to biodiversity, and loss of community livelihoods. We conducted the present research in Central Kalimantan to formulate a food estate (FE) development strategy by taking into account the potential benefits and risks to ensure increases in the local community's welfare and the sustainability of biodiversity. Data were collected through field surveys, interviews, focus group discussion (FGD), and literature studies. The results show that the operation of a food estate on degraded peatlands has a moderate to high level of risk of negative impacts. Community activities and changes in farming methods through using more inputs and mechanical equipment are the most risky activities in FE development. The low substitutability of peatlands requires mitigation efforts as part of risk management. The operation of food systems on peatlands must be based on a strong sustainability perspective with a main principle of complementary resources. The main strategy is to protect natural resources and replace cultivated exotic plants with potential native peat plants with minimal risk. In addition, the policy and capacity building of farmers towards a business-oriented direction will maximize socioeconomic benefits. Utilization of biodiversity and low-impact cultivation techniques can ensure sustainability.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic that emerged in early 2020 caused several changes in various aspects of life one of which was work aspect. Changes to work system were made by a number of companies in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19. However these changes were not as well made as expected considering that several survey results showed that most employees felt more stressed than usual. This was partly due to the increased workload since the company implemented several adjustments such as work from home. Some small companies had even reduced employee income in response to the pandemic situation. This of course has become one concern for employees in which there are some employees who are not ready to face this. This study aims to explore what factors that become sources of stress for employees during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the coping performed in dealing with it. The approach used in this research was qualitative specifically exploratory in order to obtain new findings based on the data obtained regarding pandemic situation. The data were collected by interviewing four employees and analyzed using thematic analysis technique. The result showed that the study participants felt mild to moderate stress. Most of the stress they felt resulted from their work. Furthermore the participants performed coping to anticipate negative things they might experience during the pandemic.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Sinovac was the first vaccine used in Indonesia against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). However, data regarding the effects of certain variables such as clinical demographics on antibody levels in individuals vaccinated with Sinovac are scarce. This study aimed to investigate the impact of gender and previous SARS-CoV-2 infection status on neutralizing antibody titers 1, 2, and 3 months after administration of the Sinovac vaccine. METHOD: A cross-sectional study was conducted from February to May 2021. Data on neutralizing antibody levels, previous SARS-CoV-2 infection status, and gender were retrieved from the monthly quantitative serology evaluation database of Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village, Tangerang, Indonesia. The role of each variable was analyzed using the t-test or Mann-Whitney U test, depending on data distribution. RESULT: Data from 350 participants were collected for the study. Participants with a history of a positive SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test had significantly higher neutralizing antibody titers in the first (144 U/mL, p = 0.036) and second months (144 U/mL, p = 0.005) after vaccination compared with those without a history of positive RT-PCR test. Female participants also had significantly higher neutralizing antibody titers in the first, second, and third months (43 U/mL, 42 U/mL, and 39 U/mL, respectively; p = 0.001, p = 0.002, and p = 0.003, respectively) after vaccination compared to males. CONCLUSION: COVID-19 survivor status and the female gender were associated with higher neutralizing antibody titers after Sinovac vaccine administration.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) is a subject of ongoing scientific discussion in Indonesia and the world, COVID-19 confirmed cases continue to grow in Indonesia, this is influenced by the factorof the lack of more knowledge and awareness that some people have for the disease. Application PeduliLindungi was made by the Ministry of Communication and Information together with several state-owned agencies and Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) aimed at helping government agencies break the chain of transmission of COVID-19. Sample data from Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is used to checkthe acceptance of the use of the application PeduliLindungi from 115 active respondents spread across Indonesia for analysis using SmartPLS. The analysis shows that the ease of use of the PeduliLindungi application greatly influences the usability and attitude in using it. The attitude in the useand usefulness of application PediliLindungi greatly influences the intention to use it. The use ofthe application PeduliLindungi has very little effect on the attitude to use it. In Conclusion the use of the applaication PeduliLindungi will increase because of the ease of use, it also indicates the level of acceptance of the application © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

ABSTRACT

Information comes in different forms, and it influences people's preference in finding and using information. The covid 19 pandemic which has been experienced by Indonesian undergraduate students may have provide new ways on how they looking and using information related to their study. This qualitative study explores the distance learning experience of undergraduate students in one of the University in Semarang during their study from home. It aims to identify how these students have developed their remote study as well as their strategies on searching and using information. A qualitative method was employed by applying semi-structured interviews for collecting data. The data then analyzed by using Thematic Analysis to uncover the pattern of the distance experience of the students. The preliminary findings show that most of the participants have some issues on using optimizing the learning systems, however they finally able to build their own strategies to cope with this new situation. Electronic resources becomes their main information resources because accessing the physical library building is no longer an option. These preliminary findings benefit not only for the next process of the research but also to inform university library about the way undergraduate students experience information resources so that it can be used for the library for developing their information services to students. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2020.
